Starting School
At the Little School we believe that the child’s first school experience should be handled with care and understanding. The separation process begins with a note from the teachers to introduce themselves. The teachers then visit each child at home, beginning to build a bridge between the familiar world of family and home and the new world of school. There is a potluck supper for parents before the first day of school. When children begin school, they do so in small groups for gradually lengthening periods of time, with parents or caregivers present in the classroom. |

“ I will miss... very much that most particular Little School atmosphere of confidence in children and in the growth process itself, the alertness to the potential of problems, however severe, to teach us more of what we need to know, and the sheer joy and spontaneity of being in the middle of a bunch of kids. Thank you all so, so much.” |
