Communication
Beginning with the home visit at the start of the 2s class and continuing through the child’s years at the Little School, teachers work hard to maintain open and ongoing communication with families and to build bridges between the worlds of home and school. Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled twice a year, and for each conference teachers prepare reports detailing the child’s school experience and setting goals for the coming months. Teachers are available to meet at other times with parents and to communicate over the phone. Parents are welcome to schedule classroom observations of their child at school. The school’s Directors are available to meet with parents and caregivers to discuss any concerns that may arise, whether about the school experience or about changes or challenges at home. School staff can also help refer parents and caregivers to other types of support including parent groups, family therapists, or services for families of children with special needs. The Directors also assist families in the process of ongoing school placement. |
